The first step toward rational privacy online begins now. The Glacier Drop portal is now open for nearly 34 million eligible addresses across eight blockchain ecosystems to claim NIGHT. This article provides the official claim portal link, claim period, and serves as a complete guide to the process, timelines, and all supporting resources.

Glacier Drop is an open invitation to communities across Web3 to claim a stake in a network engineered for rational privacy, a framework that gives individuals and enterprises granular control over their data. The Glacier Drop phase is designed to ensure fair, broad, and accessible participation from day one.

Eligible participants can join the network by starting the claim process at the official portal: claim.midnight.gd

Distribution timeline

The token distribution will occur across three phases, beginning with the Glacier Drop.

  • Phase 1: Glacier Drop The Glacier Drop claim period runs for 60 days, starting today, August 5, 2025 at 13:00 UTC and closes at 13:00 UTC on October 4.
  • Phase 2: Scavenger Mine The Scavenger Mine will begin after the Glacier Drop concludes and will run for 30 days. This interactive phase is open to everyone and does not require specialized hardware.
  • Phase 3: Lost-and-Found The Lost-and-Found phase is scheduled to open after mainnet launch and will remain open for four years. This provides a final opportunity for eligible Glacier Drop participants who did not claim during the initial 60-day window to claim a fraction of their initial allocation, based on a transformation function used to balance the distribution of all unclaimed tokens across the set of eligible addresses.

Building a broad and inclusive community

The Glacier Drop invites participants from across eight ecosystems to claim NIGHT tokens. Nearly 34 million wallet addresses are eligible to claim NIGHT in the Glacier Drop phase, inviting a diverse group of participants to build on Midnight and contribute to the future of rational privacy with the Midnight network. Here is the number of NIGHT tokens allocated to each ecosystem in the Glacier Drop phase, based on the snapshot data:

  • 12 billion NIGHT to Cardano (ADA) addresses
  • 4.8 billion NIGHT to Bitcoin (BTC) addresses
  • 2.6230 billion NIGHT to XRPL (XRP) addresses
  • 2.3054 billion NIGHT to Ethereum (ETH) addresses
  • 1.4291 billion NIGHT to Solana (SOL) addresses
  • 796.0540 million NIGHT to BNB Chain (BNB) addresses
  • 43.2753 million NIGHT to Avalanche (AVAX) addresses
  • 3.1813 million NIGHT to Basic Attention Token (BAT) on Ethereum addresses

The claim process

The claim process is designed to be secure and straightforward, requiring two steps:

  • Demonstrate custody: Participants must cryptographically sign a message with the private key of their eligible wallet address to prove ownership. This is a standard procedure that confirms control of the wallet address without exposing private keys.
  • Provide a destination address: A new, unused Cardano address is required to receive the NIGHT tokens.

Detailed instructions, an eligibility checker, and a list of verified compatible wallets are available now on the TGE website and directly on the claim portal.

Where to find more information

Various resources and information have already been published explaining the NIGHT token and its multi-phase distribution process. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s available to learn more:

For a high-level introduction to the NIGHT token, its role within the Midnight network, and its utility in enabling rational privacy, read the introduction to the NIGHT token.

An introduction to the comprehensive tokenomics and incentives whitepaper provides a high-level overview of the NIGHT token's design, functionality, supply, and system of incentives.

The Glacier Drop is the first phase of the token distribution. Eligibility for this phase was determined by a network snapshot. The details of this snapshot were released in two parts. Part 1 covers the specific criteria for eligibility, including snapshot times, block heights, and the minimum native token balances required for each of the eight ecosystems. Part 2 provides further data from the snapshot, including the final number of eligible wallets, the NIGHT token distribution percentages, and the conversion rates for each ecosystem.

The token distribution continues after the Glacier Drop. Learn about the Scavenger Mine and Lost-and-Found phases. These are, respectively, an interactive phase open to everyone, and a final opportunity for eligible Glacier Drop participants to claim NIGHT tokens.
