Turnkey is partnering with the Midnight Foundation to bring its developer-first wallet infrastructure to the Midnight network. This partnership will integrate Turnkey’s secure, API-first, non-custodial key management and flexible SDKs with Midnight’s privacy-enhancing technology, drastically reducing the friction and engineering overhead required to build embedded, non-custodial wallets into DApps.

Overcoming the problem of fragmented wallet infrastructure

For developers, wallet integration can be a major roadblock. Users expect a simple, fast and seamless flow when using a product or service. Instead, they are often met with convoluted login processes and the need to install third-party extensions. Complex Web3 wallet implementations can make this experience worse by forcing users to constantly jump between apps or plugins to sign transactions. Ultimately, these hurdles severely damage the user experience.

Turnkey solves this by offering powerful, API-first wallet infrastructure with ready-to-use SDKs. This technology allows developers to programmatically generate wallets and automate transaction signing without requiring users to navigate the underlying mechanics.

By abstracting the complexities of wallet architecture, Turnkey allows builders to offer a seamless Web2-style onboarding experience powered by secure enclaves (a type of Trusted Execution Environment (TEE)) ensuring private keys remain fully non-custodial and verifiable.

Rather than forcing teams to build complex key custody architecture, recovery systems, or secure signing backends from scratch, developers can leverage Turnkey’s flexible APIs and front-end SDKs directly on the Midnight network.

Unlocking new capabilities for developers

The project is structured to equip distinct developer segments with the infrastructure they need to build seamlessly on Midnight. The integration will unlock new capabilities for many use cases:

  • Embedded wallets for DApp builders: Consumer-facing applications in DeFi, identity, and payments will be able to use Turnkey to establish a streamlined Create Account → Create Wallet → Use App flow. Users interact with the application via familiar authentication methods (email, OAuth, passkeys), while Turnkey handles wallet generation and transaction signing invisibly in the background.
  • Infrastructure for wallet providers: Wallet companies that want to focus entirely on user experience and interface design will be able to use Turnkey to power the backend. Turnkey provides the non-custodial key management, recovery systems, and native passkey support.
  • Verifiable policy engines for AI agents and automation: As AI agents increasingly require onchain spending authority, developers will be able to combine Turnkey’s granular policy engine with Midnight’s verifiable execution layer. This will allow teams to set automated transaction limits, scope permissions, and enforce rules — with cryptographic proof that policies were applied correctly.
  • Enterprise and institutional applications: Organizations building treasury management, stablecoin workflows, or compliance solutions will be able to leverage Turnkey's delegated approvals, role-based permissions, and robust auditability alongside Midnight's programmable data protection.

Expanding the toolkit for privacy-preserving DApps

This partnership is designed to supercharge the developer experience, offering builders effective tools to seamlessly integrate robust, privacy-first infrastructure into their applications. Midnight already empowers developers by abstracting away advanced zero-knowledge cryptographic complexity through its native TypeScript-based language, Compact.

Whether building from the ground up with Turnkey's one seamless API or integrating rapidly using their front-end SDKs and UI components, adding these tools to the developer toolbox will further reduce friction for handling wallet provisioning, authentication, and key management.

This partnership will provide developers with a standardized toolkit that includes everything from low-level API access to front-end SDKs. This ensures teams can build scalable, user-friendly, and privacy-focused applications faster and more securely than ever before.
