From the main stage at Consensus Miami to live deployments, real-world utility for programmable privacy is here. This month’s update recaps the critical discussions shaping compliant privacy and AI, breaks down how account abstraction will make the user experience invisible, and showcases the live applications and developer resources onboarding the next wave of users and builders.

Consensus Miami

Following the Midnight network launch date announcement at Consensus Hong Kong earlier this year, builders, partners and participants from across the Midnight ecosystem made a splash at Consensus Miami. Teams collaborating from across the Midnight Foundation, Shielded and Input Output building on the network joined forces with ambassadors and participants from across the community to continue the momentum from network launch in March.

Keynotes and panels demonstrated how programmable privacy can secure personal data alongside the rollout of autonomous AI systems, while simultaneously opening access to multi-trillion-dollar real-world opportunities. Find out how in the recap blog.

A series of podcasts and discussions recorded during Consensus Miami are being released on Midnight’s YouTube channel. Learn more about what’s happening across the ecosystem:

Why capital is moving toward privacy: the Midnight Foundation team sits down with TRM Labs to explore the future of compliant privacy in blockchain.

Privacy, compliance, and institutional adoption: Learn why privacy is becoming one of the most important infrastructure layers for the next phase of blockchain adoption.

Midnight and Monument Bank: At SALT Digital Finance Forum in Bermuda Fahmi Syed from the Midnight Foundation joined Wasim Khouri of Monument and The Rollup to discuss how this partnership tokenizes up to £250 million in deposits to provide access to wealth management options like Lombard lending.

Midnight Passport

Interacting with most blockchain ecosystems imposes heavy technical demands on users, requiring complex and high-risk interactions involving technical hurdles like manual private key management and complex setup protocols that frequently result in costly errors. For example, an estimated 2.3 million bitcoin have been lost to misplaced credentials.

Much like the evolution of the early internet, decentralized tools require an abstraction layer so users can transact easily and securely without worrying about what happens from minor errors, or requirement without sophisticated knowledge about the protocol to interact with it. Midnight Foundation Director of Product Karmel Elshinnawi and Chief Technical Advisor Ben Beckmann talk with IO CEO and Founder Charles Hoskinson about the design solution and explain how Midnight Passport can simplify the user experience to open up the technology to billions more users.

Applications

Builders and partners have been working hard behind the scenes, so here’s a closer look at what’s brand new and coming next to the network.

Capacity Exchange

How does the Midnight network become more accessible and intuitive for participants across different blockchain ecosystems? The capacity exchange, built by Sundae Labs, for the Midnight network will act as a force multiplier for the whole ecosystem by making onboarding smoother and more accessible.

Midnight uses the token-resource model, where the NIGHT token continuously generates DUST to enable predictable costs for network usage. The capacity exchange will allow participants to execute transactions on the network using assets they already hold across Midnight or even on other chains.

Learn more about the capacity exchange in the demonstration video:

AscendPerps

AscendPerps is a predictions perpetual markets platform with live contract deployments on the Midnight network. Ascend adopts a ZK-enforced execution architecture, where user actions are finalized on Midnight. The order book is now live and the contract is here.

Network Pulse

A live ticker with network metrics is now on the Midnight Network homepage. Check out the latest numbers at: https://midnight.network

Monitor real-time activity, block production, and transaction volume through several block explorers from Midnight partners

NIGHT token redemptions

Over 1 billion NIGHT tokens have now been redeemed by those who participated in the NIGHT token distribution.

The distribution of claimed NIGHT happens over a 360-day thawing period which started December 10, 2025, where tokens gradually unlock according to a predetermined schedule. Learn more about NIGHT redemption in this blog.

Educational resources

To support rapid application development following the network launch, the ecosystem offers a variety of interactive learning opportunities tailored to every stage of a builder's journey. From structured, reward-driven community challenges to deep-dive technical videos and plug-and-play code templates, these resources are designed to accelerate your path from initial concept to live deployment.

Zealy partner sprints

Ecosystem momentum accelerates through structured, recurring partner sprints on the Zealy platform. These multiweek cycles upskill builds with structured pathways to gain familiarity with new partner tools and services as they arrive on the network. The initial sprint concluded with the integration of Midnames identity tools, while the newly launched cycle focuses on the 1AM wallet to establish zero-knowledge proof generation and default shielded transactions. Learn more about how to participate or jump right in on Zealy.

Video Explainers

The developer relations team has shared two new video explainers to assist builders with core protocol features. These tutorials cover foundational privacy concepts and using a local development network.

The first video explains the difference between selective disclosure and fully homomorphic encryption. This breaks down the details behind the specific engineering choices regarding computational efficiency and resource allocation on the network.

The second video is a guide to building and deploying a smart contract on a local development network for sandbox testing right on a laptop. The tutorial walks through contract initialization and compilation using the Compact toolchain before running code on a local ledger node. Learn how to build faster with tight local development loops.

Starter Templates

Build and test Midnight applications using the starter template from Edda Labs. This development package includes a pre-configured React frontend, smart contract structures, and local testing configurations compatible with Compact toolchain version 0.30.0.
